Things to do in Coorg (2 day trip)

We get asked this quite a bit. So decided to have a page with all this information.
Day 1: (depends on what time you reach)
Relax and walk around in the plantation - the guide will show you around the coffee plantation. This is to be done before dark. Please do not venture out in the estate after dark. Enjoy a cup of Vaishnavi Estate coffee
Alternatively - sight seeing before it gets dark - within a 10 km radius of our property
  • Naalknaadu palace - which sheltered the King of Virajpet during his fight with the British
  • Igguthappa temple - ancient temple of the Kodava community
  • Thadianda mol - highest peak in the western ghats (trekking)
  • Virajpet town visit - 18th century St Anne's church; Clock tower There are more options - but it depends on time - and these can be done on another day as well
Day 2:
After breakfast Drive to Madikeri (aka Mercara) Make sure you check out the following - Rajas seat, old fort (Govt offices now), Raja's tomb, Omkareshwara temple, Abbey falls. If you are interested in

trekking - Madalpatti hills should be added - it's a short drive from Madikeri (detour from enroute to Abby falls)- but your vehicle needs to have good power for this !!
Another side trip could be to Talacauvery - the origin of the river Cauvery! (45 mins drive) from Madikeri. Make sure you eat at Madikeri though - as there are good options there If you get late - might as well have dinner in Madikeri.
Day 3:
After breakfast, head to Dubare elephant camp - nice picnicy type location on the banks of Cauvery with tons of elephantsDubare Elephant camp is a quick 30 km drive from Virajpet. And head to the largest Tibetan settlement in the world at Bylakuppe - and the Namdroling monastery (golden temple) before heading back to Bangalore (typically most of visitors drive in from Bangalore.
