Why Vaishnavi Estate Uses GrainPro Bags for Coffee Cherry Storage

At Vaishnavi Estate, protecting coffee from moisture starts immediately after harvest. During storage and transport, coffee cherries can easily absorb excess moisture from the surrounding environment, especially in humid plantation regions like Coorg. To help preserve quality and reduce the risk of mold or spoilage, we use hermetic GrainPro liners inside our storage bags.

The airtight, moisture-resistant barrier helps shield the coffee from humidity fluctuations, pests, and external contaminants while maintaining a more stable storage environment. This allows us to better preserve the integrity of the harvested coffee before further processing.

Because the barrier layer limits air and moisture ingress, the coffee can rest in storage for longer—giving us flexibility on processing schedules and dispatch dates—without the quality drift you can get in traditional sacks.

We also like that GrainPro is designed as a pesticide-free, food-grade solution. Instead of fumigating, we’re relying on a physical hermetic barrier to protect the crop. It fits with our quality goals for clean, traceable coffee.

There’s a sustainability upside too. By cutting post-harvest losses and quality degradation (especially in an era of unpredictable rainfall), hermetic storage helps us use what we grow more efficiently. Reusable liners mean less packaging waste over time, and avoiding chemical treatments reduces our environmental footprint.

In short: GrainPro bags are a simple, dependable layer of insurance between our carefully dried coffee and the moisture-rich reality of plantation storage.
